Well, tonight I was going to post about all my super awesome deals I got at Victoria's Secret, and as I was uploading pictures I got a message saying I hit my limit...what!? I'm not sure if I posted about it before but A has a blog on his own site. See he is a User Experience designer, aka a web designer, and he has told me that he would make me a blog and I've decided to take him up on the offer. Hopefully he finishes it soon and I will come back and share the link. I love the work he does so I know it will be great!

I will save my posts that I had for this week for the new blog-I have deals, recipes, outfits, my January dinner calendar, and my closet organization (seriously you should see how beautiful it looks now, aaah) Promise me you'll venture over to my new blog! :)

Fitness Friday

I've decided that on Fridays I will blog about my favorite workouts, health recipes, and all things fitness.
Today I will start with a workout. I have all my workouts on notebook paper so I thought it would be nice to have them on here. I like learning new workouts so feel free to leave me some of your favorites!

Workout #1 (45 minutes, 2 miles)
.5 mile warm up (my gym has a track where 10 laps=1 mile)

30 squats with medicine ball (you pick the weight, I do 4kg)
30 lunges with MB
30 presses (each arm) with MB
Run 2 laps (2/10ths of a mile)
Repeat set

30 band bicep curls (with resistance band- the thicker the harder)
30 tricep extension with RB (each arm)
30 rear delt flies with RB
Run 2 laps
Repeat set

100 jump rope
50 crunches on Bosu Ballast ball
30 hamstring curls with Bosu Ballast ball
Run 2 laps
Repeat set

Run 3 laps

Repeat all omitting running.

*I Am by no means an expert. This is a workout I enjoy and just wanted to share.

Sweet Dreams

I've been having the itch to redo a room. One day I woke up and decided I wasn't a fan of our winter duvet cover anymore. I liked it when our room was a light blue color, but the brown and the gray just isn't working for me anymore. What do you think?

I've been looking all over the internet for something to pop out to me. I've seen things that I like but not love. Here are the front runners:

The cream and white from Overstock. Might be too plan though

A pop of color from Crate & Barrel. Just not sure if it is the right pop.

I really like this one from Bed Bath & Beyond just not sure if I'm sold on the green.

I guess I'll have to stay on the hunt. Where are some good stores to check out? I will take any suggestions!

We are also getting some new carpet in the bed room. Thanks to some friends and family we racked up over $200 in Lowes gift cards over the holidays. The carpet we have in there now is the cheapest stuff and isn't comfy to step on. I have to decide what color would look best. I am thinking the 3rd row down and 3rd from the left. Again, I will take suggestions :)

2011 Goals

As I stated last year I don't like to set my self 'resolutions'. I prefer the words goals. If I don't reach them I am okay with that. It is just fun to set something and check in every now and then and see how I am doing. Enough with the boring stuff, on to the goals!

Goal #1- Get & Stay Organized: My husband will tell you that I am the messy one. He is someone that likes order, where I am the one that will just throw things in my closet and clean it later. I finally got sick of being that way and have decided to change! This week we bought stuff to organized my closet and dresser drawers.

Goal #2- Run a 10k: As you know last year I got really into running. It is amazing what our bodies can do. This year I want to push myself and run a 10k (6.2 miles). This is a very do-able goal for me. I think this will by my first 10k. Right before my 25th birthday.

Goal #3- Be More Crafty: I have a whole room dedicated to my crafts. I need to take sometime this year and work on some stuff. Who knows, maybe I could even make some stuff and sell it at local craft shows or Etsy.com!

Goal #4- Shop For Only What I Need: Now if you ask my close friends you will find out that I am a thrifty shopper. I look for deals and never buy full price. This year I am wanting to do something different. After cleaning out my closet and drawers I realized I have enough clothes. There are other things I can get with that money-save for Lasik (that A just got, so jealous!), use the money to finish our basement, again (it flooded a few months after we moved it and had to rip up the carpet), or decorate our guest bedroom. If I buy something new I am make a rule that I have to get rid of something.

Goal #5- Blog More: As the years have gone by I have blogged more and more every year. I want to have more of a direction on my blog. I enjoy blogging because I get to document my life and look back. I want to know what my readers want to see more as well. I want to grow my blog too. I am open to suggestions!

That's it for this year! I plan on continuing my goals from last year as well. I will do check ins every now and then to track my progress!

New Year's Eve Outfit

Tonight for NYE we are doing something different. A few weeks ago we were asked by A's cousin if we wanted to go out to a nice dinner to celebrate. We are going to Stone Creek, which is also where we went for our second anniversary, but to one in a different location. I've been looking forward to this steak dinner all week! Here is what I decided to wear tonight.

I got this top at Ann Taylor Loft. After all the discounts I got it for $10! I'm thinking of wearing a black cardigan with it if I get chilly.

Last week I returned my Rock and Republic jeans to Nordstrom Rack that I originally used my Groupon for. I thought I would get a gift card for the $50 (which was what my groupon was for) and the remaining amount I paid back on my credit card. Well, when I went to the counter to return it she put it all back on my card. Turns out I ended up getting my groupon for free (I paid $25 for $50). Does that make sense?! I was sort of confused. Anyway, my friend Lauren was the one who spotted this bag first. It is a Kate Spade that was originally $425, but was on sale for $79.97. I couldn't believe that price! It was love at first site. I mean, I only paid $30 for a new Kate Spade bag! Score! The picture above is hard to see so here is the bag.

I am still debating on what bottoms to wear tonight. I'm thinking dark jeans with either my patent leather heels or flats (depends on which jeans I pick). I feel like this post is all over the place but I had to share my great deals! I will be back after the new year to show how the outfit went together and how the night went!

2010 Goals-How'd I do?

Way back in January I picked some goals I wanted to accomplish in 2010. In July I did a half a year recap. Lets see how I did after one full year!

Goal #1- Meal Planning- I must say this is something that I did keep up on. We had a dinner planned almost weekday this year. Of course, there were few times where something popped up but other than that I am pleased with this goal. It is something that I plan on continually doing.

Goal #2-Get Fit- I must say I have come a long way since 1/1/10. This past year I have ran in 6 races, went to the gym at least 4 times a week, I drank my last pop in March and gave up fast food in February. I am in the best shape of my life. I can't wait to see what 2011 brings me! I have to brag a little. I want to look back on this post next year to see progress(if any)!

Goal #3-Learn to sew- I really, really tried to accomplish this goal. I came to the conclusion that my sewing machine sucks. I hate to say that because it was a gift but it is awful. There is no control over the speed, the thread gets tangled up, and I get frustrated. I plan on selling it on Craigs List in a few weeks to maybe look into buying a new one.

Goal #4- Pay off school loans- DONE! The only debt we have is A's car and our mortgage (which we just refi'd to a 15 year loan! Sweet!). I'll take that!

Goal #5- Read 50 books this year. Sadly I didn't get this one done either. I did read 35 books and I am proud of that. It is the most books I have read in one year. Some of my favorites: Emily Giffin's Heart of the Matter, Chelsea Handler's books (funny!!),and Kristen Hannah's Winter Garden.Who knows maybe next year I'll hit the 50!

Goal #6- Make a 1001 in 101 days list- yea, this didn't get done either and I really don't have a reason why. I think I just kept forgetting about it! I will try for this in 2011!

I must say for never sticking to resolutions in the past I think I did pretty good this year. In the next few days I will have my 2011 goals. Have you thought about yours?

Our Christmas 2010

Our Christmas's started last Sunday when we had my dad and all my siblings over for dinner. It was our first time cooking a ham and it turned out great! It was so nice having everyone over here this year.

Compared to last year we all look a bit different, especially Nolan!

I didn't take any pictures on Christmas Eve but we always go to Andy's aunt and uncle's house. I got some really nice gifts-a North Face sweatshirt (seen below), some MAC eyeshadow and a Sephora gc. Andy got a Lowes gift card and a new Under Armour shirt. Then we went out to my aunt's house to enjoy some dessert and laughs.

Christmas morning we always open up our gifts to each other. I spoiled Andy this year with a few clothes, softball stuff, and his favorite gift- a pair of Ugg slippers (Zappos has the best customer service btw)

Andy also spoiled me this year. I got a gift card to go get fitted for some running shoes, some makeup, and he built me a mirror. But my favorite gift of all was the Tassimo coffee machine. I love this thing! (If you have one what are some good t-discs to buy?)

We then headed off to my mom's for our traditional Christmas breakfast. I won't bore you with all the picture but I do have to brag about one. My bff (aka my brothers gf) got me the gift I didn't think I would get since it has been sold out everywhere:

I got all kinds of new clothes, the Giuliana book I've been wanting, a scarf, and workout gear. Andy got some new threads, and tools.

We then headed off to our last stop, Andy's parents. Once again I got more makeup, a new dessert cookbook (I will have to blog some of the good ones!), and more running gear. Andy, again, got more tools! We always do a gift card game with the whole family. This year Andy got one for Home Depot, and I had one for Target but it was stolen from me so I ended up with one for Victoria's Secret.

It is hard to believe Christmas has came and went but I am looking forward to New Years!

Goodbye Shoes

Today I sent my gym shoes in. When I bought these shoes back in January I also bought the No Sweat protection plan that Dick's Sporting Goods offers. The shoes were wearing out so I sent them back and soon they will send me a gift card to get some new ones. It really is a good deal, the plan was only $3.99. I thought it would be fun to reflect back. :)

I ran my first ever 5k in these shoes. I came in 1st in my age group.

That very next day I ran in a trail run with my brother. We ran 3.5 miles.

Then in June my shoes took a trip to Nashville. I ran in the CMA Road Race 5k.

The last race my shoe ran in was in Chicago. The Urbanathalon was by far my favorite race!

Not included is all the times I ran in my neighborhood and my workouts. I am in the best shape of my life! Last year at this time if you were to tell me that I was going to run in 4 races in 2010 I wouldn't believe you! I am so proud of all I have accomplished! I am looking forward to next years post, with many more races and new shoes!

Lace & Tights

I am loving the lace tops and tights for this season. I grew up dancing and always wore tights to dance class so I never really wore them outside of that. What was I thinking?! I went to Forever 21 and bought a pair of black tights for $3.50 and another pair of patterned tights for $6.80. I normally wear leggings with boots in the winter. I've seen people wear tights with pumps so I thought I'd try that look out. I was impressed with Forever 21's quality for the black tights. I was afraid they were going to be thin or itchy but they weren't! It was a very good buy. Here is my outfit (along with my new hair color!)

Christmas Favorites

I thought since we are ten (!!) days out from Christmas I would post some of my favorite things!

My favorite Christmas song, and just might be my ringtone, is Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. I can't help but think of the Home Alone scene where he has the 'people' dancing around!

I love the snow as well. I mean if it is going to be ~~cold~~ FREEZING it needs to snow. Working in a school that is sorta, kinda in the 'country' we get pretty many snow days or delays. There is no better phone call at 5 am! We actually had a snow day on Monday and we have another storm moving in right now! My fingers are crossed for a white Christmas!

I'm also loving the Target commercial! I can remember waking up at 5 am (pretty much when my mom went to bed because she waited till Christmas eve to wrap-but we didn't know that) and running into the living room to see everything Santa brought us. The excitement isn't the same as an adult but I still do enjoy waking up Christmas morning.

I also love going to Starbucks to get a nice hot caramel brulee latte. I may or may not have an addiction to Starbucks. Is it bad that I have a gold card?!

Another addiction I may or may not have is Bath and Body Works soaps. I have a supply that would last me for the next 10 years! I like to switch them up for the seasons! Right now we are washing our hands with Winter Candy Apple, my fav!

I also LOVE giving people gifts. It's the best feeling to give someone something that puts a smile on their face. A little gift can go along way. I have something up my sleeve that I think A will be surprised with. Last year I did that when I got him some nice sunglasses. I also have a few small gifts for some friends that might not be expecting anything, that is my favorite time to give someone a gift. I received a gift from a co-worker that was a surprise and I love it! She is so thoughtful!

The Perfect Tree

Over the weekend we went to go get out Christmas tree. After stopping at four different places we finally found it. When we got to the place we had a worker come up to us and ask what we were looking for. We told him about 9 feet and skinny and he told us he had the perfect tree for us. We are easy to please and once they showed us the tree we said we'd take it. They even took $20 off the price! While they were loading it up on the car my mom and I went to get our free ornament and some hot chocolate! They had the best customer service. I wouldn't mind getting our tree there again next year!

After looking at our tree from 2009 and 2008 I realized this was our biggest (and my favorite!) tree yet! I love the smell of the tree and the glow from the lights. Christmas is such a magical time. Walking into my living room just makes me happy. It looks so cozy and warm.

Frosty Air

I don't know what has happened to me in the past few years but I can not stand the cold! Today I woke up to a frigid 12*! I mean, it only took ten seconds for me to go out to my car this morning to warm it up, but I became so cold!

After I got the car cleaned off (not fun at 630 am!) I headed out to work. I am one of those careful drivers, when it's this cold out the ice on the road doesn't melt! I took my time going to work, slid a few time, and walked my short walk from my car to the building. I am dreading going back outside!

I remember being a kid playing in the snow all day and not caring about how cold I was. Now, I hate even stepping one foot outside! It is going to be a long winter! I don't know how people who live in colder areas handle it. I already know I'll be one of those people that either retire down south or go to Flordia for the winter!

Playing Catch Up

I really meant to blog last week but I just had a bad week and couldn't get into it. But today is a new week and I'm back!

Lets start with Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful, yet (as always) busy day. I mean who really could not like a day where it doesn't matter how much you eat and get to be around great people!

After our delicious dinner Lauren and I headed out around 11 for some Black Friday shopping. And boy did we do some shopping! We stayed out till 7 am! We had a blast and it was fun to be in the crowd!

Even though my week didn't start out that great last week it ended on a great note. My cousin had her baby on Friday. We didn't know the gender. My guess was a boy, and I thought that the whole time. I was shocked when I got that text that it was a little girl! I am so thrilled to have another baby girl in the family, my other cousin had a baby girl just this past May.

All of these posts are all things I am thankful for. When everything is said and done I am truly thankful for everything in my life. I have a warm house over my head, clean water out of the tap, and food on the table everyday. There are many people in this world that do not get those "luxuries" that I have. I value all the friends and family that I have because without them I am not me. On this Thanksgiving I feel blessed. I can only look forward to the other things I will one day be thankful for in my future. I hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving and enjoys the time with family!

I thought today I'd blog about something more fun to be thankful for. :) No, I am not a crazy cat lady. Cats are just easier than dogs which is why we got Carson. Then we realized he needed a friend so we got him Nala. I am thankful for my cats and that I can take them in our house. Carson came from my old boss's litter and Nala came from the SPCA. I am thankful I have two loving, and sweet cats.

I am so very thankful for our house. I grew up in a tiny, tiny town and all I wanted to do was move out. So back in 2007 that is what I told A. We looked around at surrounding neighborhoods and couldn't find anything we were in love with. Then one day we passed this house and knew we had to check it out. The second we walked in I got that feeling. This was our home. It wasn't the typical house that this town has. Our house has so much charm. It was built in 1886!

I am so thankful that we found this house. I am thankful I stayed in the same town I grew up. I am so close to my favorite mall, I can walk anywhere, and can get to any highway within 10 minutes. It really is a great place to be. I am thankful this is our first place together. We didn't have to get an apartment*, I was a homeowner when I was 21. It was such a great feeling.

*nothing wrong with apartment living! It was just nice we didn't have to waste money on rent and that we had great parents who let us live at home to save money!

7 days to be thankful:day 4 my education

I am the first one in my immediate family to attend and graduate college. I am very thankful for my degree. I always knew I wanted to go to college but was never quite sure what for. I tossed around different ideas-orthodontist (too much school), marine biologist (wasn't ready to move away), physical therapist (not sure why I didn't pick that). So, when it came time to decide, I was at a loss of where to go and what major to pick. My mom suggested I go ask my counselor what I could do with sign language.

A little back story: When I was in second grade we had a new student come in who happened to be Deaf. I was that kid that made friends with everyone and soon we were best friends. I remember watching the interpreter the whole day and going home asking my mom why I wasn't Deaf. I was in love with the language and I learned it to communicate with my friend. After third grade she moved away and we lost contact. That was the last of my signing that I did.

Ok, back to my senior year. After my mom suggested that I went right into the counselor's office and asked what I could do with sign language. She told me I could be an interpreter. Then, I asked where I can go to school. She told me where, so I applied, got accepted, and was on my way.

I love my job and am thankful for it. American Sign Language is such a beautiful language. I am thankful I took my mom's advice. I can't wait to have a baby one day and teach them sign language. Seeing little hands sign melts my heart. I am thankful for all the things my education has brought me.

7 days to be thankful:day 3 my family

Who isn't thankful for family? I know I sure am! I have a mom who raised two kids (who are both equally awesome!) on her own. She did get some help from my grandparents, who I miss dearly everyday, but most of it was on her own. She raised me to be a strong, independent person. I am thankful for how she brought me up. I know how to stand on my own two feet thanks to her. I know I can always call her to go shopping, go out for salsa, chips, and margarita's, and can always call to go on walks on a nice evening.

I am also thankful for the family I married into ( ^this is only a small part of that). I am thankful for where I went to high school and played soccer. I played with A's cousin and that's how we met. I got my fun job while working in college (a high end jewelry store) thanks to A's aunt. I've been in the family for 8/9 years and it feels like I've been apart of the family forever. I am truly thankful for being welcomed.

I am also thankful for my big brother. Growing up we were super close, grew apart once he hit high school, then after we became close again. I am thankful I can call my brother one of my best friends. It also is nice because my bff dates my brother. He makes me laugh and most of the time we are the only people that get each others humor.

Lastly, I am thankful for my whole family. They know how to have a good time. Family is such an important part of life and I am thankful that I have such a great group of people I can call my family.

I must say I really have some great friends. Some of us have been friends for over 10 years (almost 15!) and others just a few short years. I'm thankful for having friends to meet up for coffee just to talk about life. I'm thankful for having a friend to go shopping with to only buy the exact same thing. I'm thankful that some of my friends have children and I get to see them grow up. I'm thankful (kind of) that I have friends that live in another state that I get to go visit. I'm thankful for friends of the past as well, I've learned from them and it makes me who I am today.

Can you believe we are 7 days away from Thanksgiving (and 8 from my favorite shopping day)! Crazy how fast time flies! I have decided for the next week that I'm going to blog about things I'm thankful for. For day one I wanted to start with my husband Andy.

I've known him for a little over 8 years and I still am head over heels about him. I don’t understand how I got so lucky to be the girl to marry him. He's always been there for me, been my biggest cheerleader, motives me, and inspires me to be a better person. I hope everyone can find what I have with Andy. I am truly thankful to have him in my life.

Tis the season

The holidays are ~~slowly~~ quickly sneaking up on us. This is my favorite time of the year, especially Christmas time! I went to Shutterfly to upload pictures from the weekend when I saw they had their banner showing their Christmas cards. I can't believe it is time to get those ordered since they will need to go out in only a few short weeks!

I went to go check out the cards and, of course, I found a whole bunch that I love. So I turned to my blog to get some advice. Which one should I pick?

Friday afternoon I got an email from Verizon that looked like this:

I thought it was too good to be true. Andy and I had to go sign some papers for fill out for our refi (hello 15 year loan! I could be debit free by 39!) So after that we decided to head up to Verizon to get the scoop on this plan. See, we were up for our 2 every 2 but I was a cheapskate and didn't want to fork up the $54 a month for data plans (I get a discount through work). So we went up there and even the sales guy had never seen this. He called the number and confirmed it and told us to pick out our new phones. A walked out of there with the Droid Incredible and I got the Droid 2. How could we pass up a deal for 1,400 mins, unlimited data and texting, and all the other Verizon stuff for less than $180 a month for all 5 lines! I love my new phone.

For all you Droid people out there what are your favorite apps?

Pumpkin, Pumpkin,& More Pumpkin!

I don’t know what has gotten into me this year but I love everything pumpkin. When I go to Starbucks? a tall skinny pumpkin spice latte, a local bakery? I look for pumpkin doughnuts or muffins (and as I type this I am eating a pumpkin muffin from Panera!). And now, last week when I walked into Trader Joe’s, I came out with these:

Let me tell you about the pumpkin waffle mix. It just might be the best waffle I’ve ever had! Mmmm, with warm real maple syrup it is just to die for! Oh and the pumpkin cream cheese tastes great with apples, a cinnamon bagel, and even crackers! I do not know what I am going to do after fall is over and I have to wait a whole other year for my obsession! What can I look forward to in the winter, spring, and summer!?!

Sorry I have been MIA. Life sometimes gets in the way, you know.

A few weekends ago we went up to Chi-town for the Men’s health Urbanathlon. A group of people from my gym went last year and talked about it all year long about how fun it was. When the sign ups came around in June I knew I had to go this year. I got my team together and was ready to take on this challenge.

The Urbanathlon is a race you can either run individually or on a three-man team. I, of course, did the relay. I was the second leg of the race that included a 3 mile run, jumping over Marine hurdles that were over 5 feet tall, going under cargo nets, and climbing across monkey bars. I had a blast, and so did the rest of my team! For our first Urbanathlon we came in at 1:46:46 putting us in 454th overall. Hey, I’ll take it! I am looking forward to next year (I am thinking of running it alone!!).

Chicago is one of my favorite cities for a few reasons-shopping, pizza, & shopping! After the race we headed over to Giordano’s for their famous stuffed pizza. Seriously people, pizza doesn’t get any better than this.

We then went and did our shopping. I found a few cute things but by this time I was so tired. For some reason my body decided to wake up at 430 am on Saturday, and after running the race, going to lunch, and walking around downtown I was just DONE! But I was a trooper and went out Saturday night. At the top of our hotel (The Wit- read my husbands review here), was a bar called The Roof. The view was breathe taking and so was the drink prices ($14! But hey I was in Chicago so why not!). I enjoyed my Punk Rock Runaway(mount gay rum, lemon, Washington apple syrup, candied apple) and took in all the beautiful views.

Before we left my favorite city, I decided to walk down the street to take some pictures and find something for breakfast. I stumbled upon Argo Tea. It was such a next place! They had so many delicious looking drinks and I decided to go with the Mate Late (Yerba Mate, almond, and milk-YUM!) and a pumpkin muffin. If you live in Chicago, NY, or St. Louis you must visit this place! I am sad there isn’t one close to me!

We had a great weekend and are already looking forward to next year!

Fall Traditions

Last weekend we went on our annual trip of picking out our pumpkins and getting some apples.

After the pumpkin farm it was off to the apple farm. It was pretty chilly Sunday morning, so I couldn't wait to get some cider and sit by the fire.

A Bit of History

I think I've said before that our house was built in 1886. In the 1930's they put an addition on. The only reason we know about the addition is because when we were putting a new front door in we had to open the walls up. You know what they used to insulate wall with back them...newspaper. We have a newspaper from March of 1933! We have had it just lying around and we finally figured out something to do with it.

My Super Awesome Weekend

My weekend started out on a great note. Remember the two part test I took, part one in April 09 and part two this past August?? Well I receive an email Friday afternoon (I had Andy stalking my email since I didn't have access) and I got word that I passed!! I am now a Nationally Certified Interpreter!! It was a longgg 7 week wait but it was worth it in the end. It feels great to have achieved this goal I wanted so badly!

The rest of my weekend followed suit. Saturday night we went to my good friends Heather and Erick's wedding reception.

They had a destination wedding over the summer in the Dominican Republic.

It's hard to believe two years ago we took this same picture but I was the one in white!

College friends. I love these two girls and am so thankful I can call them my friends.

The next morning I ran a 5k with my other good friends, Cassie and Alisha. It was Cassie's birthday and her first race! I was so happy to be apart of this race. See, Cassie is a care taker for a sweet girl with autism. I love running, but running for a reason makes it that much more special. I am already looking forward to the next race that we run together.

Fall Favorites

Is it just me or does fall clothing make you excited? I love everything about the fall-from pumpkin spice lattes to going to the apple farm, but nothing makes me happier then throwing on a cozy sweater. We are still in the upper 80's/90's here so I haven't got to enjoy that feeling yet. So until then I will leave you with some of my fall wants.

New Ride

I had been in the market for a new car. I loved my '99 VW New Beetle but it was getting old. I had been looking around at all kinds of cars and fell in love with the 2007 Scion tC's in the RS model. Of course it wasn't an easy car to find, only 2500 were made. In the matter of a month we found 3 that were close to us, and of course they all were sold or in financing. I was just about to give up on that car and start looking for something else. Then on Monday we got a phone call from a dealership that financing fell through and the car was back up for sale. We told them we would be down Wednesday to buy it! I was super excited! So after a 2.5 hour car ride (one way!!) I got to come home with this baby:

Happy Anniversary 2.0

Two years ago today I stood before my friends and family and vowed my love to my amazing husband. The first year flew by, but I think this one went by a little bit faster. Everyday when I wake up next to A I ask myself how did I get so lucky. He truly is my best friend and I am thankful for everything he is to me. I can't wait to spend a thousand more years together!

We celebrated Saturday night. He surprised me with this when I came home from work Saturday morning:

I got him a Chad Ochocino jersey along with tickets to a Bengals game in October (Who Dey!! Can't wait!)

Dinner was AMAZING! If you live my a Stone Creek Dining or ever visit Cincy this is a must eat if you love steak.

I started an album of pictures from our anniversary. I can't wait till every page is filled up!

And here is the outfit I wore. That is the shirt and necklace A bought me. What can I say, the guy knows how to pick out clothes for me :)

We ended the night getting my favorite ice cream, Graters chocolate with chocolate sprinkles!

Boys of Fall

This has taken over my life for the past few weeks. My student I work with is also a football player so everyday I am at those practices, and every Friday night and Saturday morning I am at the games. It's been tough working in school all day then going to practice but it is worth it. I love football and probably know more about the sport than I ever thought I would. I plan on getting back to my regular scheduled blogging here soon when I get used to this schedule :)

If you haven't seen Kenny Chesney's Boys of Fall music video you are missing out. Even though I played soccer I still understand what these coaches are telling the boys. I will always remember that feeling walking out onto the field, and will always remember that last game when I cried cause it was over. This just might be my all time favorite Kenny song (and I'm a HUGE fan of his!)

Today was the first day back to work :( Summertime just seems to fly by!

This past weekend we went to the outlet mall to do some shopping. I, of course, had to get a "first day of school" outfit. I was so excited when I saw the JCrew Kelsey Ruffle top on sale! Plus I got a teachers discount of 15% so I scored this shirt for about $25! I decided to wear it today.

I saw this post on Bakerella's site and was drooling looking at her pictures. I knew I needed to make these cookies but needed a good reason! This week A's cousin is in town from Denver and she always stops by our house to hang out. I thought it was the perfect time to bake the pillow cookies. They were a hit! I think these just might be my new favorite cookies. I mean, why didn't I think of this! They turned out huge so they are the perfect cookie to split with someone.

I forgot to take picture when they were fresh out of the oven. I got 10 out of this recipe. I had a few left over, so I told A to keep a few and take the rest to his work. He said they were gone the second he walked in the door. This cookies are a must bake! I can't wait to try different kinds of "pillow" cookies. Wouldn't a Reece's cup be delicious on the inside!?

A Couple of Thank Yous!

Last week was a crazy week for me. I had work at night and during the day I was getting ready for my big test. Last April I took part 1 of my test and passed it. This past Saturday I took the second part which was the performance part. I felt good about it and will get my results in 4-6 weeks. Fingers crossed! Until then I am enjoying my last full week of 'freedom'. Next week I start back to work with meetings and the first day next Friday. I can't believe summer break is almost over!

Anyway on to the point of this post, I won a couple giveaways recently! The first one I won was from Melanie at My Sweet Savannah. I won a beautiful print from the Etsy.com shop Field Trip. I still have to head up to IKEA to get a frame to put it in so I can hang it in my craft room. She was so sweet and sent me a bookmark to match!

My other awesome win was from Lyndsie. I love her blog! She is always giving something away. I was so excited when I won an $80 gift card to Red Envelope. It was a hard decision but I ended up choosing these cute earrings. I thought they were something I could wear everyday (and I have since I received them!)

I drive a lime green VW New Beetle (for now), and I think it does. It's cute, girly, and fun! I mean come on, any car that has a flower vase in it fits me! Plus I love seeing people 'punch buggie no punch backs' when I drive by!

For sure Kelly Ripa. I want her arms!

Nothing big. I did go down to Nashville for the CMA Fest and to visit a friend. We also have made a few weekend trips to the lake. We are also taking a weekend trip to Chicago in the fall. I'm trying to talk A into a vacation the week after Christmas (hint hint, I know you read this!)

Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit. Remember when I went to Nashville? Well, while I was there I got to go to a video music shoot. My friends husband helps his friend who produces videos when they need help. Erick called us Friday morning and told us we could stop by. While we were there they told us we could stand in the background and we might get in a shot.

What music video were we at? It was Billy Currington's new song Pretty Good at Drinking Beer. It was so hot that day! If we would have brought our bathing suits with us we probably could have been in the video more, but I'll still take it!

This summer A & I decided not go to on a big vacation. We are going on a few small trips (I went to Nashville in June and we are going to Chicago in October). But that hasn't stopped me from looking at all the places I want to go. It all started with look at some new luggage. With airlines charging for each piece you bring I started looking at a new carry-on bag. I, of course, would get something girly and cute.

As a loyal customer I just wanted to throw this out there. Seriously, why do you put your Primer Potion in such an odd container. The other day I was sad because I thought my primer was all out. I remembered reading somewhere that if you cut open the bottle you will find more product.

So thats what I did..

I could not believe how much was left in the bottle! I thought it was empty!

It filled the container! I could use this for much longer now!

So in short UD, you need to rethink your packaging. I wonder how many people throw this away thinking its empty!?

Summer Mornings

One thing I love about mornings in the summer, I get to stay in bed! When the school year starts I am up at 5am. During the summer I get to stay in bed, drink my latte, catch up on some tv, and read some blogs.

Sweet Summer Time

Is it just me or is it hard to believe the 4th of July has come and gone already?! Summer is flying by, maybe it's because I've been having too much fun! We had a fabulous weekend. We went down to Cumberland on Saturday to get some knee boarding and wake boarding fun in.

We came home Sunday in time for the fireworks. We had VIP tickets so we had free food and beer! Which by the way I've found a new beer I love-Leinenkigel's Summer Shandy. Delish! The fireworks were awesome, as always!

Then on Monday, we went to one of my favorite things to do on the 4th-the parade! It was super hot, but Starbucks was right behind us so I enjoyed a iced vanilla latte while enjoying the parade!

To Be a Kid

Remember what it was like to be 8 years old? Summer's were all about being outside till late and not having a care in the world. On Thursday's Andy plays softball, so does my brother. Before the game, my nephew Logan and I went walking around the park to get some Ring Pops and for a little swing action.

He is one of my favorite people in this whole world.

6 full months

Well we are halfway through 2010. Can you believe it?! Neither can I. I decided I should do a check in on how I was doing on my 2010 goals. So lets get this started:

#1 Meal Planning. Every week I have had a menu, thanks to A for some help too! This was probably the easiest one to keep up on.

#2 Get Fit. Can a girl brag for a minute? I have been working out 5-6 days a week since January 4th. I have since ran 2 5ks and 1 trail run. I am signed up to do the Chicago Urbanathlon in October with friends that I have made at the gym. I believe I am in the best shape I have ever been. I didn't take pictures when I first started (I regret that!!)

#3Learn to Sew. Yea not so much-But hey, I still have 5 months! HA!

#4 Pay off School Loans. Almost there!!!

#5 Read 50 Books. While I think I am a little behind I have 22 books under my belt! Any good summer reads? I am wait for the Chelsea Handler books at my library and I want to read The Help but I'm up for any suggestions! One of my favorite books this year-Unwind

#6 Make a 101 things in 1001 Days List. Ugh... I kinda forgot about this one. I think I have actually done some of the things I wrote down originally (like run a 5k, and volunteer) I will work on that list this week and will have it up one day this month!

Overall I am happy with my goals. What about you? If you set goals for 2010, have you been keeping up on them?

Pre-Wedding Parties

This weekend my good friend Heather came up to Cincy for her bachelorette party and bridal shower.

It's hard to believe 2 years ago Heather came up here to celebrate my bachelorette party!

Her sister planned it all out and did an awesome job! We had a blast!

It was a long night-we stayed out till 3! The next day was her bridal shower.

It was nice to see everyone was a live and made it to the shower =)

Heather's family hosted such a wonderful shower.

Meagan and I got her a chip and dip set and pitcher from Sterling Cut Glass. We got their initials engraved on the glass. I had to call and switch the letters. See her name is Heather and his is Erick, their name name starts with an O. Can you already figure it out. Yes, at first it was going to be engraved HOE. I'm glad I realized it before it was too late! Everyone thought it would of been pretty funny.

Heather is getting married next month in Punta Cana, DR. I can't wait to see her pictures and live vicariously through her! Her Cincy reception will be in September.

CMA Fest 2010

I've been a slacker! Two weekends ago I went down to Nashville, TN to visit a friend and join in on some CMA Fest fun. As always, Heather was a great host. She and her soon to be husband really knew how to make us feel at home. We had some great home cooked meals and homemade cocktails! We even went for a much need massage. It was a super relaxing weekend.

Friday night we went down to LP field to listen to some country! We went to see Julianne Hough, Reba, Josh Turner, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, and Kid Rock! It was a blast!

It was very hot, but that didn't stop me from wearing my boots!

Saturday we ran in the CMA Road Race 5k. This was my 3rd race and their first. It was a super hot day, I'm talking 100*!!

We did it!

At first I was a little disappointed in myself, I had to walk for a short time :(

But I did come in at #140 out of 800 (40th woman to finish!) and #10 in my age group. After seeing my results I was happy.

Heather and Meagan came in at 49:20-I am so happy they did this with me!

On Sunday, we went down to the Nashville Farmers Market.

Oh my goodness, there were so many wonderful things there!

I came home with some pole beans, potatoes, and peaches. I love buying from farmers market's. It's so nice to talk to the people who grow the food.

That was my weekend! It is so nice to get away with girlfriends.

Next time I'll see Heather is this weekend at her bachelorette party and bridal shower here in Cincy-can't wait!

Pickin' Berries to Make Jelly

Yesterday A & I went out to a local farm to pick strawberries. I remember doing this as a little girl with my grandparents, but it has been many years since! It was a very warm day but we stuck it out and picked out berries!

Done picking! Ready to go home and make some jelly-just like my grandpa used to do!

A quick photo of everything you need.

First you have to mash them up-enough for 2 cups

Then you add 4 cups (!!!) of sugar and mix together. Let it sit for 10 minutes-stirring occasionally

Then add one packet of pectin (I used Certo) and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (mix together in a separate bowl then add to the berries) Once you mix in the pectin and lemon juice mixture stir the berries for 3 minutes.

Add the jelly to your jars.

Seal the jars and let them sit at room temperature for 24 hours. After that you can either put a jar in the fridge (good for 3 weeks) or freeze them (good for a year). We did this 4 times. 6lbs of berries made about 14 jars-all varying sizes. This was so easy to make! I can't wait to make jars using other fruits. Have you made any jellies before? What's your favorite home-made jellies?

We grew up on this jelly-I will only eat PB&J's with strawberry jelly and A thinks that is weird =). I can't wait to try it, I'm sure it will bring back childhood memories.

Tuesday, we headed down to see the Reds play the Pirates. We were lucky enough to get box seats (thanks Adam and Kristen!) I mean free tickets that include free food?! Count me in! The weather here in the Queen City has been fabulous, so it was a great night to catch a game. While it was 0 to 0 for most of the game we still had a great time. We ended up losing 2-1 but we are still in 1st place so that's okay :).

Well I'm 24 now! I had such an awesome birthday! The weather here was beautiful. After working all day I came home to get everything ready for the grill out after the game. Once A got home we headed up to the park! I got to hang out with all my favorite people! =)

300 Cupcakes

That is how many I agreed to bake for Andy's cousin's church (their 3 year anniversary). You see, I am known in the family for my cupcakes. I make them for every family get together, and I love making them. It would be my dream to own a cupcake shop, maybe one day. So when Holly called me with the request I agreed (I was hopeful that maybe people would want me to bake for birthdays, showers, etc.). I went into it thinking okay, 300 cupcakes...this is going to take me forever! But in reality it took about three hours to do the baking and about two and a half hours to do the icing. I also broke it up over two days, so it wasn't nearly as bad.

Shopping is a Girl's Best Friend

I follow lots of wonderful blogger like Veronika, Chloe, and Idle Banter that always post the CUTEST clothes from Ann Taylor Loft. I have a store literally right up the road from me and I had never gone in. This past weekend was friends and family and I saw a sign from the street that clearance was an additional 40% off, I mean really it was like they were giving it away! So I decided to stop in and see what I could find. Well, I could have walked out of there with so much! I think I found a new store that I love! ATL where have you been all of my life?!

I got this adorable dress for $30 (org $70!)

I love how ATL has xxs and 00P. I have a small frame and these clothes fit perfectly. I can see more ATL purchases in my future :)

I got this dress a few weeks back at American Eagle. I think it will look cute with my cowboy boots. For $25 I thought it was a good deal.

I picked up this towel at TJ Maxx. It is my inspiration for our bathroom redo. I was tired of our brown walls. It isn't a large bathroom so the dark color made it well, dark! I wanted something lighter. We went with a color that matches the blue. I will have a before and after post as soon as we are done painting!

I love a good deal! Did you get at ATL friends and family event? Any tips for a newbie like me shopping there (when the best deals are etc.)?

So this weekend I was not only in one race but two! I know, what was I thinking right?! Saturday, I ran in the 1st Annual Meters for Mozart 5k. Being the first year for the race only a little over 100 runners were signed up. I thought this was a perfect first race for me. A friend of mine, Jessica, was running in it along with her friend, Kelly. While it was a chilly 40* it didn't take us long to get warm.

Kelly and I kept pace with each other.

Right after the second mile I broke away from her and picked up my pace. (btw pics when you are running do not turn out that great ha!)

I could see the finish line and I sprinted in. I came in with a 25:15. My best time yet! I was so proud of myself. Kelly kept saying that I probably won my age division but I didn't think so. We stuck around for the awards and it turns out I did win my age division (19-24, a baby I know). I was even more proud of myself-my first race and I actually won something! I came in 27th over all out of 103 (first place came in at 17:36!!)

I am looking forward to running more races with these girls

Then, this morning my brother and I did a 3.6 trail run. I've always heard how fun trail runs are so I thought why not try this one. We stayed together most of the way. I loved running in the woods, having to jump over fallen trees, and seeing the beautiful sites. We hit the last mile and we thought okay, we can do this.Uh no, it was straight up hill! It was killer! We both finished it and that was our goal. I am really proud of my brother, he hadn't been running for the past 2 weeks! I came in at #79 (out of 141) with a time of 36:21. That number worked for me. I have never done a trail run so I really didn't have a time goal but now I will :) Oh, and my brother came in at #86 with a time of 37:04. I will post pictures as soon at they are uploaded.

Sunshine weekend

I'm a little late on my weekend update. The weather here has been nothing but beautiful! We had such a great weekend.

It started out with me volunteering for Cinderella's Closet. It is an organization that makes it possible for girls to go to prom looking beautiful who otherwise couldn't. I was a "fairy godmother" (aka personal shopper). We had to make these girls feel like the princesses they are by holding their purses, carry around the dresses, help them get in them, get some shoes for them and put them on for them, as well as their jewelery. I had 2 very sweet girls. One of my girls thanked me over and over and said how she wished her mom would do stuff like this with her. That broke my heart, but that is exactly why I did this. I know I made a difference in her life-even if it was only for the hour we were together. I can not wait to do this again next year!

It was also my mom's birthday. We took her out for dinner and drinks! I love my mama and I always try to make her birthday really special for her.

I just had to show off me wearing my new boots! I love them oh so much!

Then on Sunday, A & I picked up some lunch at a local deli and went up to the park to enjoy our lunch and the weather. We sat right by the lake and were greeted by these two:

They were not afraid of us at all. They were so cute! It was so nice to just relax and take in all the fresh air.

Oh I also wanted to mention I won tickets off the radio yesterday to see a sneak peak of Jennifer Lopez's new movie The Backup Plan. I get to see it next Monday! I can't wait and I will come back with a report since it doesn't come out till next Friday!

This week is the kick off of kickball! It is so fun to play every week and I can not wait! I will have to take pics this year too! I also am running in 2 races this weekend (my first two!!) I have a 5k Saturday and a 3.6 mile trail run Sunday morning (thankfully my brother is running with me so I'll have someone pushing me!)

Easter weekend

I hope everyone had a great Easter! We lucked out here in Cincy and had great weather all weekend. A & I even took the bike out for a short ride.Today is my last day of break and head back to work tomorrow. I can already feel summer bug kickin in so these next 2 months better not drag on!

Friday I had a hair appointment..twice, but not planned that way! I walked out of the salon with brassy colored hair. I called my friend to look at it and she informed me I should of never left and told them I wanted my money back/a redo. Long story short, I went back down there-the owner took me into the spa room and talked with me. I am not one to complain, so I told him how bad I felt. He let me know the girl who did my hair was going to come back from lunch and sit back in the office till I left. He was going to redo my hair for me. I thought they were very willing to work with me and he thanked me for coming back so I could get what I wanted. He made sure to do me up with curls and all when I left! I am still a little too blonde for my liking but everyone says they love it.

After that fiasco I wanted to go out to dinner. So thats what we did. We went to one of my favorite places. Red Robin. All I asked for was somewhere with a patio.

Saturday we had a 1 year olds birthday to attend. We rode the bike up there and missed the rain (thank goodness!) and then the sun was shining for the rest of the day =) I had to go home to finish these guys up for Easter:

I also made a new wreath for the front door. I love primitive stores. My mom and I went to a "new to us" store Saturday afternoon and I found this garland. I knew it would make a good wreath for the front door. I'm happy I finally found something to put on the door!

Sunday started off by going to breakfast at First Watch (my fav!). I brought my camera but I was too caught up in the conversations to remember to snap a few pics!

I then went to the in-laws for a few then was off to my cousins. The kids had a great time hunting for eggs

All in all it was a good weekend! I am dreading going back tomorrow! I will be volunteering this weekend and it is also my mom's birthday so I am really looking forward to this week being over!

Delish Dish

It has been a long while since I have posted a recipe. Last week I got my new Real Simple magazine in the mail. While looking through it I saw a recipe that I thought I would try. I used it as inspiration and tweaked a few of the ingredients to make it my own. It was delish! I can't wait to cook it again. Here it is:

Linguine with chicken and asparagus

Serves 2

A couple handfuls of linguine (as much as you'll eat)

1/2 cup olive oil

1/4 cup blanched almonds (Real Simple's called for pine nuts)

2 cloves garlic, sliced

1 lb asparagus (can be trimmed-I left mine full)

Salt

black pepper

1/2 cup Parmesan (shaved or grated)

4 chicken cutlets

Cook the pasta as it says on the box. Drain the pasta then put it back in the pot. While the pasta is cooking heat the oil in 2 pans on medium. One for the chicken and one for the other stuff. Cook the chicken until it reaches 165*/ white inside. In the other pan once the oil is hot add the almonds and garlic-cook, stirring frequently, until golden (1-2 minutes). Then, add the asparagus and cook, occasionally tossing, do this for about 2-4 minutes until its tender.

Add the asparagus mixture into the pasta. Add salt and pepper to taste (1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper). Toss to combine. Cut the chicken into chunks and add in as well.

Serve the dish onto the plate and sprinkle with Parmesan.

This weekend my mom and I were out shopping. I suggested going to Macy's to find some cute new spring flats (not what I came home with!). While we were there they had all their boots 75% off. I thought I would just check out what they had. Next thing I knew I found the new loves of my life! Check out these new cowboy boots:

These retail for $150 (I've actaully seen them up to $170 online!). I got these babies for $49! I have so many ideas for these boots. I can't wait to wear them down in Nashville for the CMA Fest this summer, or with dresses and skirts, or with jeans! I'm in love!

My other great deal was this Polar F4 heart rate monitor watch

I bid on this on ebay with 3 hours left. I bid $46 (these retail for $80+) and went about my day thinking I wouldn't win. Well, I forgot I bid on it till about 9 night when I remembered and as it turns out I won it! I can't wait till this shows up on my door step!

This week I am taking it easy because I'm off of work due to spring break. Today it's going to be rainy but the rest of the week's forecast...well, I'll let it speak for itself

2010 Goals (check-in #2)

The goal I am talking about today is my getting fit goal. I have been going to the gym 4 days a week for 10 weeks now. I have been thinking about doing a 5k. The other day, (when it was 70* out!!) I decided to go for a run. I had a route in the summer that I'd run/walk. I remember getting to a point where I would tell myself I could walk. I would never run the full thing. So I loaded my phone up with songs and headed out. I was feeling good, never was out of breath, and best of all I never walked! I ran 2.7 miles! I was so proud of myself! I remembered to time myself and I ran it in 24 minutes.

I talked to a friend of mine who had been running 5k's lately and we signed up for one in April! I can't wait! Now if only this rain would go away so I can get back out there!

Weekend Fun

This weekend, while the boys were helping my cousin tile, Lauren and I went to the mall. While we were there we saw that Mardy Gilyard was going to be there signing autographs. He was a wide receiver for the UC Bearcats. I admit I never watched UC football until this year because they were awesome. Mardy is said to be one of the top wide receivers for the 2010 draft for the NFL. We are crossing our fingers that he will be wearing the Bengals stripes on Sundays!

We also went to check out the new Red Robin that opened up in Florence, KY. They were having a trial run before the big grand opening so they needed people to come eat, drink and hangout to get to know the hang of everything. Everyone did a great job and our food was delicious! I mean who wouldn't love free food right?! We also got a free shake. I had never had one before and it was one of the best shakes I ever had!

A weekend of birthdays! & A Thank You!

It's hard to believe just last year that Ava was born. Saturday night they had her birthday party. She is just the cutest thing!

Sunday, my mother in law had people over for lunch for her birthday. I didn't take any picture there (too busy chatting with everyone!) Andy told his mom I would bake something for her though. I knew what that translated to...cupcakes! You see, I am pretty famous for my cupcakes. I make everything from scratch. My buttercream frosting is awesome, if I do say so myself :) I did take a picture of them before we left though so I thought I'd share.

Love Swap

After a minor mix-up, I received my Valentine's Day package from the swap Katie set up. Lucie was my swap partner. Check out her blog-her boys are the cutest!

I was super excited to open my package. She wrote the sweetest note in the card. Thank you for everything Lucie!

First off the box was full of Hershey Kisses with almonds which are my fav! I love that purple nail polish, which will be perfect for spring! My favorite is the bracelet. Its hard to photograph how glittery it i, but here is a close up.

What we eat

Ever since Oprah had her show "Food 101 with Michael Pollan" I have become very interested in the food we eat. I picked up Michael's book In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto.

WOW! I learned so much from this book. He gives you a couple rules to live by. One that stuck out to me was "Avoid food products that make health claims"(Pollan 154). Yes, I am was a total sucker for buying into that. Did you know that brands (like cereals, and dairy) that have The American Heart Association seal on them pay a fee for that? This logo is on that sugary cereal with that cute little leprechaun (without naming names :) ). I mean now that I read that how can that at all be good for our heart health? Bogus!

Okay, so processed food is bad for you. I liked when he said "Don't eat anything your great grandmother wouldn't recognize as food" (Pollan 148). His whole point was would she be able to idenify the food we eat now, i.e. Go-Gurt. He lists the ingredients and more than half of them aren't "yogurtlike."

I feel like I could just go on and on about all the things that opened my eyes. He used the term "flexitarian" which I really didn't know what it meant. I did a Google search and learned a flexitarian is a semi-vegetarian diet focusing on vegetarian food with occasional meat consumption. A self-described flexitarian seeks to decrease meat consumption without eliminating it entirely from his or her diet.

That is me! I thought about being a vegetarian, asked a friend that is for advice, and researched. I came to the conclusion I enjoy chicken, a lot. Michael himself isn't a veg and listed some great websites at the end of the book that help you find beef that is 100% grass fed (cows were meant to eat grass not grains like what most are because it makes them grow bigger and faster) and eggs that are pastured (Free range doesn't mean the chicken had access to grass: sometimes it's just an area of dirt). My favorite site is Eat Well Guide. Just enter in you zip code and there you go!

This is a must read! Our bodies are all we have and we should know everything we put in them. I am ready for the change (slowly!) and look forward to all the food I can try! I will leave you with one last quote from the book, and after you read it let me know! I already have his new book on my list at the library!

Extra Long Weekend

I work at a school and this weekend was our mid-winter break, we were off Friday and today. Well I just got the call we will have our 5th snow day tomorrow. I hate to say this but I am getting bored staying at home all day! I don't want anymore snow days because they will add them on to the end of the year.

So since it is a snowy day I will give a weekend recap (there will be some CUTE pictures along with it too!)

Friday was "girls night out". The girls go out for drinks and a movie while the guys stay back for poker night. This time it was only 3 of us. We went to the bar in the movie theater and watched the opening of the Olympics. Then we went to go watch When in Rome. If you haven't seen it you aren't missing anything, if you have seen it what did you think? I normally like chick flicks, but I thought this one was kind of corny. I won't complain too much because Josh Duhamel isn't too hard on the eyes!

Saturday I went out to Micheal's with my 60% off coupon (more than once!) and got some fun things for my craft room. Then we went out to A's cousin's house to bring them dinner and see the twins! You might remember Amanda from the shower Kristen & I threw for her. Well I don't think I ever posted that they came at 32.5 weeks on December 23rd. Sam came in at 4lbs 2oz and Kate at 3lbs 4oz. They were the tiniest babies I had ever seen in real life. Their actual due date is tomorrow. Sam is now 6.2 and Kate is 5.6. They are adorable. See for yourself:

For Valentine's Day A and I just kept it easy. We stayed home and watched Julie & Julia, which was a great movie! We cooked dinner in the crockpot and it didn't turn out so great but you live and learn :) We didn't do gifts this year since we just took a ski trip but we did make each other cards:

Snow

Like the rest of the country we got a significant amount of snow fall over the past 36 hours. It was nice to come home from a 4 day vacation to having a snow day on Tuesday. Then this morning I got another phone call saying we would be having another one today! I haven't been at work for a week! This weekend we are off Friday and Monday for President's Day so I will only be working Thursday (my job has its perks!) Hope everyone is staying warm. I leave you with some snow pictures :)

Boyne Mountain Ski Trip

We got in from our ski trip yesterday afternoon. We had a great time! The drive wasn't bad at all. It was much colder up there than it was at home, but after a little bundling up it wasn't too bad. Boyne Mountain was beautiful. Back here at home the closest ski mountain is pretty small, Boyne was about 4 times bigger.

When we got in Friday we walked around to check the place out. We went ahead and bought our lift tickets for the weekend. They had $10 lift tickets for Friday night, so while Andy, Tony, and Kristen went out I stayed in by the fire. They were only out for about 2 hours since it was freezing! We went to grab dinner at the pizza place on the resort, Trophy Room Pub & Pizzeria. So yummy!

I love that we had a fire place in our room. I had that thing on every chance I could!

Saturday was the day all 4 of us hit the slopes. It was so nice to ski right out of our condo! It wasn't as cold as I thought it was going to be with the sun shining on us. We all had a great time, and I only fell about twice!

Saturday night we went to the casino, but sadly none of us came home big winners. I was just excited to play my favorite slot, The Wizard of Oz :)

Sunday while the boys went skiing Kristen and I had a day at the spa. We started out by relaxing in the relaxation room. We then went to the Hatha Yoga class. It was my first time ever going to yoga and let me tell you I can now understand why people love it! It was so relaxing. The class was 75 minutes long and I enjoyed every minute. Next, we went to get into the whirlpool tub. After a long day of skiing it was super nice to get in! We went into the cider sauna before heading up for our manicure. While getting our mani's we had a great view of the mountain and got to watch all the skiers. I loved having a girly day while the boys were skiing.

Sunday night we wanted to watch the Super Bowl at a bar/restaurant. So we went "downtown" to see what we could find. We found this great little place.

We came home Monday afternoon. It was a great trip! Thanks to Tony & Kristen for inviting us to come along!

Ski Weekend

2010 Goals (check-in #1)

It's hard to believe one month of 2010 is already history. I have decided to post check-ins at the end of each month (mainly so I can look back and see my progress).

My first goal was menu planning. I did this each week (it makes grocery shopping so easy!). We might of switched a few nights around but we had a home cooked meal at least 5 nights a week. I've realized it hard to plan for the weekends because plans can always come up or change. But I am satisfied with what we did this month.

Goal #2 was getting fit. This is the goal I am most proud of. I signed up for a monthly class pass at my rec center. I went to 4 classes a week, and played soccer once a week. I feel like I can already start to see a difference. My arms and abs are toning up! Each week I have been running an average of 4.5 miles a week. I just notice a huge change in my energy levels too by working out. I also love the instructors so it is fun to go. I also got these cute shoes:

My third goal was to learn to sew. Well, I am still working on that one. I became frustrated with my sewing machine a few weeks back and haven't started it back up.

Number 4 was pay off school loans. That one is still a work in progress. (which reminds me, I need to increase my automatic withdraw)

My favortie goal is number 5. I am down 3 books this year. I think this is pretty good. Right now I am reading 2 books at one time and in my students class they are reading a book on tape so I am including that because I am listening along as well. By the end of February I should have another 6 books done. I have added the Good Reads app to my blog to keep track easier too!

As for #6, I have about 40 things on my list. It's harder than I thought to get 101 things!

Overall I think this month was on the positive side for my goals. Now I just have 11 months to keep going up!

Crafting

Making different crafts is probably my favorite hobby. I love going up into my craft room, turning some music on and just create. I look at other blogs and sites for ideas. I have been slowly building up my room. Here is how it looks today:

I made a banner for a baby shower and ever since I've wanted to make another. I thought Valentines Day would be perfect since I don't decorate too much for this "holiday". This one cost around $2 to make. I am already planning on making one for St. Patrick's Day too :)

My real passion is making cards though.

This weekend I am going to class with my brother in laws girl friend to make a jar and some cards; I can't wait :)

Updating The Decor-Bathroom

I haven't been totally in love with our bathroom ever since we painted it a year ago. The orange shower curtain wasn't doing anything for me anymore. It was dark and not the look I was going for. I saw on someone's blog the cutest shower curtain with branches and birds on it and I fell in love. Well, as it turns out, it is no longer in stores anymore :(. So I was on the hunt for a new shower curtain. I found this one for $40 at Urban Outfitters, but really, I did not want to pay that much for a shower curtain so I was on the hunt! I ended up finding the exact one at Bed Bath and Beyond (score! I got to use a 20% off coupon!) and got it for around $30 (still a little more than I wanted to spend but I was in love!). You can see the old, dark, curtain here. Now, on to the new look..

So much better right?! I think it really brightens up the room. Now here is the part where I need your help. See those painting on the right? They do not match anymore. I am having the hardest time figuring out what to replace them with. I was thinking of another painting/picture, but of what I'm not sure. I want to keep the organic sort of feeling going. What thoughts do you have? I would really like to get something off etsy.com, so do you know of any shops that I could find something great?! Please leave me your comments!

The Time Travelers Wife-Review

It truly has been a long time since I've read a book I was completely in love with from cover to cover. This story was a love story that was unlike any another. Can you imagine meeting your future husband at the age of six? That was the case for Clare who met her husband out in the meadow behind her house, only to have him vanish a few moments later.

The format of this story was something I had to get used to since it does go from the 70's to the 00's. There also were times when Henry would be time-traveling Henry, which was a little hard to follow. But, all in all this was a great read. Now I can't wait for this weekend so I can watch the movie (I LOVE Rachel McAdams), and I hope I am not disappointed.

So there is my first book of '10. I need to speed it up if I want to get to my 50! I already went to the library and got a new book to read-Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella.

2010 Goals

I don't want to call them resolutions, my goals aren't to resolve any problems. I like to call them goals because they are things I want to achieve by the end of the year. I don't have too many, some are simple, and some are more complex. I am ready for the challenges that I am setting myself up for!

2010 Goals

1. Meal planning

I was really good about this for a few months last year. I think once summer hit and I was off work I fell off the wagon. It made it so easy to shop for groceries knowing what I needed every week. I have a long list of recipes saved that I need to try. If you have any recipe suggestions feel free to comment :).

2. Getting Fit

I really enjoyed my workout classes 5 days a week in the summer. My gym didn't offer classes at night once fall came around, and I had no motivation to go workout. I just checked my gym's website and starting this month they will have 5 classes a week I can go to! I think this will be an easy goal to accomplish!

3. Learn to Sew

My wonderful in-laws got me a sewing machine for Christmas, which I asked for. I used a sewing machine years ago in jr high school, but haven't touched one since. I would love to make new pillow covers for the living room, and curtains for my craft room. Again any suggestions on this would gladly be accepted :)

4. Pay off School Loans

Really compared to other people my loans aren't that much. This is the only debt we have (besides our home), and it would be awesome to pay it off. I paid my car off in August and it felt great. Starting this month I plan on tripling my payments to get it paid off faster. Again, I think this will be an easy goal.

5. Read 50 books this year

If you asked me to read a book three years ago, I would have told you no thanks. Ever since I started as an interpreter in the school systems I realized I had a ton of free time. I started reading books of movies I had seen (The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, etc) and really fell in love with reading. I have my list on Good Reads. I have read 45 books since fall of '07. I know I could read a lot more than that, which is why I am setting myself up for 50 in 2010. I think its do-able. What's your number one book you would recommend?

6. Make a 101 Things in 1001 Days List

I always see everyone else make these and I think to myself how good you would feel once you finish off your list. I was thinking about making it now, but I have to think of 101 things! My goal is to have a finalized list by my birthday (May 6). I think that would be a good day to start something new!

I will have updates on all my goals as we go through this new decade together!

It's hard to believe today is 2010. What a year the last one has been! I like to do my years in review so I can look back on them. I can only hope 2010 is a wonderful year!

January

A & I went skiing. This is something he really enjoys, where I am still learning. We like to go a couple times a year. It is a fun hobby for the both of us to do together. I am looking forward to doing the same thing thing year!

February

My cousin and his wife brought little Ava into this world. It has been fun to see her grow up! It's hard to believe her 1st birthday is right around the corner!

I also was approached by my wedding photographer to do some bpics for promotion. I also did this as A's Valentines Day gift. I am so glad I did this! I think every women should get these done! It was a blast.

March

My step-mom arraigned for family pictures done at her house. I remember my baby brother wanted nothing to do with the photographer! I can't believe how long my hair is in these pictures!

April

The start of kickball season! I look forward to this every year! Our team name is Jimny Kick-It

(clever right!?) Kickball is always a good time. We play all the way through the end of July!

May

Andy's brother Cody graduated from Marine's bootcamp. It was nice to get away for a weekend (which was also my birthday :) weekend) My favorite part was going to see the beach. We were only 20 minutes from Hilton Head Island and A's parents drove over to let me see the beach for my birthday! I teased them because my actual birthday was spent on an airplane.

This was also the month I decided to chop my hair off! I am so glad I did it! I still am in love with the cut. I really thought I'd miss my long hair but, surprisingly I don't!

June

This might of been my favorite month of the year! I went for a girls long weekend to Nashville, TN. My friend (on the right) moved down there two years ago. She asked Megan and I to come down for the CMA Music Fest. I am so glad we did this. Not only did we see some awesome bands (Darrius Rucker, Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Dierks Bentley, & Reba) , but Heather got to show us around the city. I think this is something that we will do every year. I can not wait for this year!

The next place I got to go to was Vegas! A had been before but it was my first time. I really think he enjoyed showing me around the city and all the casinos (on his first trip there he played poker at the MGM for 8 hours!). While I didn't come back a big winner, A won back all the money that paid for the trip! I loved this city and would go back in a heart beat!

July

A's cousin Stacey came back in for a visit from Denver. We all went to a grill out followed by catching a Red's game. I love going to the ball games in the summer.

August

My step-mom had a mini photo shoot. Looking at these make me miss the summer. I was so tan!

This is also the month we got Carson a friend. Here is Nala.

September

A and I celebrated our one year anniversary. It's funny how one year till the wedding feels like it takes forever, but the first year of marriage flies by! I am looking to many more years celebrated!

We also lost A's grandma Apple on the 22nd. I loved Apple like my own grandma and we both still miss her very much.

October

This month we celebrated my bff Lauren's 24th birthday!

It's also the month I got my new camera that I still am falling in love with!

November

Thanksgiving at my house. I LOVE hosting things at my house. I get into the whole thing. Every year my brother and I switch off so Thanksgiving '10 will be at his house.

December

Going to cut down our Christmas tree is one of my favorite things about this time of year. We look forward to the first weekend in December every year!

Christmas day. This was our 8th Christmas spent together, 2nd married.

And to finish off the year..

After the Bengals game on 12/27 I got to hang out with Chad Ochocinco. I follow him a twitter and got an invite to party with him after the game. So Lauren, David, and I went down to celebrate the Bengals AFC-North victory. Chad in under the Budweiser sign, Lauren and I are right below him (we were close enough to reach back and could of touched his leg) David is in the front to the right. We were holding up the 15 for the late Chris Henry. Awesome way to end the year! (Lauren and I also saw him the day before at the Gap and chatted in line with him!)

So that was my 2009! Of course there were things I left out but I remembered the highlights. I can't wait to see what 2010 has in store!

Christmas Recap

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! It's always my favorite time of the year, good food, and fun with family! As usual, we had a crazy two days-but it's always worth it! It's hard to believe Christmas has come and gone. The year always goes so fast!

My favorite gift of the year! A let me open a gift on Christmas Eve eve =) I used it to bake my famous cupcakes and icing that everyone loved. I can't wait to use this again!

We turned our 'fireplace' on while opening gifts Christmas morning =)

When I saw this at the mall I had to get it for him. He always say this! It's something he can hang in his office.

I asked for these for our trip in Feburary to Boyne Mountain. Of course I need to be cute on the slopes!

Next up was Christmas at my mom's. She always cooks breakfast and we all look forward to it! Here is my brother's dog Bentley opening gifts.

My mom bought me these PJ pants and I bought her the same pair! (The picture came out blurry but I thought it was too funny!)

My BIL and his GF got me this book. I LOVE it! I can't wait to make some of the cute cupcakes. I also got a sewing machine from the IL's that I plan on learning to use to make some cute things.

Celebrate

This past weekend we had Christmas at my dad's house. This is just one of the five places we have to visit for the holidays. Tomorrow we have two then on Chirstmas we have two as well. It's always crazy when you combine families and have to travel all over. We are lucky everyone lives in the same area.

Oh Christmas Tree part 2

Decorating the tree is one of my favorite things about Christmas. Its fun to pull out the old ornaments and remember the stories about them. A & I collected ornaments for about 3 years before we even moved in together. We turned on Charlie Brown Christmas and starting decorating!

This is one of my favorite ornaments. That's my car! I saw it last year and HAD to have it =)

Oh Christmas Tree

This weekend we went out to Big Tree Plantation to cut down our Christmas tree. This is our second year cutting down the tree. This is a tradition I think we should keep up on! It is so fun to go out to 'hunt' for the perfect tree. Plus, afterwards you get free hot chocolate and the gift shop always has some goodies to look at!

This years selection was better than last years. I like how they plant a tree for each one sold.
